Energy efficiency of the modernized pump operating in the condensate system of the basic 240 MW power unit
Eliminating energy-consuming devices and replacing them with more efficient ones that consume less electricity allows for cost optimization and is an example of conscious environmental care. The article describes the condensate system of a basic 240MW power unit and the general scope of the modernization. The structure and technical data were discussed in detail and the characteristics of the new condensate 20VPK37 pump were presented. Based on the test of the installed 20VPK37 pump, a comparative analysis of energy effects and energy efficiency was assessed.

Strengthening and degradation mechanisms of creep-resistant austenitic stainless steel
The paper describes the mechanisms of strengthening and the processes of degradation running during the service of modern creep-resisting austenitic steels on the example of Super 304H steel.

Possibilities of process heat recovery on a hot-dip galvanizing technological line
Conducted was an analysis of a possibility to recover the process heat from a model hot-dip galvanizing technological line. It has shown that it is possible to recover energy from a galvanizing plant work both during summer and winter periods. The process heat recovery is possible for three technological nodes: zinc coating furnace, cooling tank and charge waiting area between galvanizing and unforming. Proper utilization of the process heat enables reduction of its losses and increases economic efficiency of the whole hot-dip galvanizing process.

Signals processing in HSWIM systems
Development of vehicle weigh-in-motion systems goes in the direction of implementing systems allowing automatic enforcement of the rules. HSWIM systems enable measurement of mass of vehicles passing through the measuring station without any disruption in traffic flow. The article focuses on the process of calibration of a vehicle weigh-in-motion station where strain gauges are used for pressure measurement. Proposed is a solution consisting in replacement of calibration factors with calibration functions. The analysis was made for a method making use of an area under the signal path and a vehicle speed. Calibration functions were determined jointly for all tested vehicles and also individually for every one of them. Application of calibration functions for the given type of a vehicle made it possible to determine the total mass with an accuracy allowing qualification of the tested vehicle weigh-in-motion station to automatic systems. Obtained improvement in weigh-in-motion accuracy did not need any intervention into the measuring station itself.
