Requirements and recommendations for limitation of light pollution
Light pollution is usually defined as an environmental disturbance created by excessive and inappropriate use of artificial light during the nighttime. Complete elimination of light pollution is not possible, but it is possible to minimize it. At present, there are no consistent and complete regulations in Polish legislation that explicitly deal with reducing the scale of this phenomenon. The only legal acts refer to very general requirements for obstructive light on building facades and light-emitting advertisements. Requirements and recommendations for obstructive light from outdoor lighting infrastructure are contained primarily in lighting standards and publications of the International Commission on Illumination, but the application of these recommendations is not mandatory.

Verification of the appropriateness of using the LCOE indicator for energy systems with the participation of weather-dependent renewable sources
This article presents a methodology for assessing the costs of electricity generation in power systems that coexist with weather-dependent renewable energy sources (Intermittent RES) and balancing and reserve power plant (BPP). It has been shown that the commonly used, intuitive approach based on the weighted average of the unit energy production costs (LCOE) of individual sub-technologies leads to erroneous conclusions about the economics of the entire system. A proper assessment requires a holistic approach based on the principle of balance envelope boundary, which ensures consistent consideration of the operational and economic interconnections between all subsystems. It has also been shown that the marginal cost of introducing IRES into the system must be negative, which accordingly narrows the area of profitability of using these sources.

The method for determining the increase in breathing resistance and power needed for breathing through reusable dust filters
This article describes a method of assessing the wear of reusable dust filters used in Polish hard coal mining. The research subject were dust filters used by miners of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa in real conditions. It took place in various locations with varying degrees of dustiness, and at different time intervals. Approximately a hundred filters have been tested. For each filter, the following information has been given: usage time for each miner, location, and user comments. By the use of the constructed machine, the energy expenditure for breathing can be determined. The method for determining the increase in breathing resistance for dust filters in use has been developed. Another method has been determined for determining the degree of increase in power needed for breathing through the filters in use. Validation studies were performed on standard filters made specifically for this method.

Corrosion resistance of Super 304H heat-resistant austenitic steel
The paper presents research on the microstructure and corrosion resistance of austenitic Super 304H steel in the as-received state and after service. It has been shown that in the as-received state the analyzed alloy is characterized by the required resistance to general corrosion and pitting corrosion, as well as the ability to repassivation. The precipitation of numerous particles rich in chromium during the service leads to a decrease in the general resistance to corrosion, at the same time increasing the susceptibility of the steel to local corrosion. It was also shown that the Super 304H steel after service had limited ability to repassivation.

Catatumbo Lightning
The article discusses an interesting lightning phenomenon occurring in the Lake Maracaibo basin in Venezuela. The phenomenon called Catatumbo lightning is characterized by lightning intensity 320 days a year, 7 hours a night. Lightning discharges occur continuously, up to 30 strokes per minute. The reason for generating an electric charge in clouds with such high and long-lasting energy was explained. It describes the account of the observation of this phenomenon and the conclusions drawn.
